Our coaching staff comprises of individuals with current/former collegiate, and high school level experience. We understand the significance of routine, discipline, and development in an athlete's life. However, we also believe that it's not enough. That's why we continue to educate ourselves with quarterly goal expectations, formulated practice plans, and technology to stay laser-focused on our athletes' needs.

Cason Shurling

Junior Coach

Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Cason Shurling has been deeply immersed in the world of baseball from a young age. A talented player throughout his youth, Cason started his high school career as an infielder and pitcher at Yulee High School before transferring to First Coast High School, where he continued to excel in these positions through his junior and senior years. After high school, Cason is further honing his skills as a player at Edward Waters University in Jacksonville. His dedication to the sport did not end with his playing career; in 2018, he transitioned to coaching, beginning his journey with travel ball teams ranging from 9U to 13U. His coaching career has been distinguished by his collaboration with college and professional athletes, enriching his experience and understanding of the game. In addition to coaching, Cason has served as an umpire for Perfect Game (PG) and USSSA since 2022, gaining a comprehensive perspective on the game from the officiating side. His multifaceted involvement in baseball—combining playing, coaching, and umpiring—demonstrates his deep commitment to the sport and his drive to contribute to the development of young athletes. Cason Shurling continues to be a passionate and influential figure in the Jacksonville baseball community.

Senior Coach

Katlyn Pruitt

Katlyn Holmes Pruitt, a dedicated softball player from Dallas, Texas, excelled in the sport from an early age. At Gunter High School, she was the starting varsity pitcher for all four years, setting impressive records with 1,066 strikeouts and 39 shutouts. Her outstanding performance on the mound earned her All-State honors three times. Despite receiving scholarship offers from across the nation, Katlyn chose to stay close to home and played for two years at NCAA Division II Midwestern State University. At MSU, she cherished the memories of being named Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week twice—once for achieving the fifth perfect game in school history and again for her exceptional performance against No. 1-ranked West Texas A&M, where she allowed just one earned run. Katlyn then transferred to Lubbock Christian University, where she completed her collegiate career and earned her Bachelor’s Degree. At LCU, she played a key role in leading the Chaps to back-to-back Heartland Conference Championships. Her career at LCU was marked by a 2.7 ERA and a 28-12 record. After graduating, Katlyn transitioned into coaching, driven by a desire to share her expertise and passion for the game with younger players. She served as a pitching coach at a private high school for two years, while also providing private pitching and hitting lessons. Katlyn’s ultimate goal is to help athletes refine their skills, enhance their athletic abilities, and achieve their aspirations of competing at the next level.

Jodee Matos

Jodee attended Freedom High School from 2019-22, graduated from Osceola High School All Metro Catcher in 2021-22 2022-23 Orange Belt Conference Player of the Year 2022-23 Orange Belt Conference 1st team for outfield Rated eighth-best shortstop in Florida by FlaVarsity in 2023 2022-23 Orange Belt Conference Chamption April 2023 Kowboy of the Month (Osceola High) .455 avg, .506 OBP, 35 hits, 30 runs, 5 doubles, 5 triples, 2 HRs in my senior year Play College Softball at EWU Professional Player in Puerto Rico in the Softball Superior league (still active), and was the youngest recruited player in 2022.

Dave Mitchum

Junior Coach

Born in Gainesville, Florida, Coach Dave Mitchum has been passionate about baseball since he was four years old. Growing up, he excelled in recreational leagues and transitioned to travel ball at age eleven. A standout athlete at Saint Francis High School, Dave shined as a middle infielder, playing second base and shortstop, and also showcased his skills in center field. His impressive performance earned him Second Team All-SIAC Conference honors and a spot on the First Team Tournament Team.Currently, Dave is honing his skills as a player at Edward Waters College, where he continues to demonstrate his dedication to the game. With years of experience both on the field and as a mentor, Coach Mitchum is committed to developing young athletes and fostering a love for baseball in his community.

Junior Coach

Aleyaa Kaiser

Aleyaa Kaiser brings a wealth of experience and passion to the role of Softball Catching Coach, having been deeply immersed in the sport from a young age. Aleyaa’s journey began at just four years old, and by the time she was nine, she was already making waves in travel ball. Her exceptional skills as a catcher were evident early on, setting the stage for a remarkable career. Throughout her high school years, Aleyaa was a standout athlete, securing a spot as a varsity player from 8th grade through her senior year. Her dedication and prowess on the field earned her the role of a five-year varsity starter, where she honed her skills and developed a keen understanding of the game. One of her career highlights came when she was awarded the MVP Defensive Player title at the USSSA National Championship tournament, showcasing her elite defensive capabilities and leadership behind the plate. Currently pursuing a degree in Nursing at the University of North Florida (UNF), Aleyaa combines her athletic expertise with a commitment to helping others. Her unique blend of experience, dedication, and academic focus makes her a valuable asset to any softball program, where she is eager to inspire and train the next generation of catchers with the same passion and drive that defined her own career.

Anthony Lee

~Attended Paloma Valley High from 2011-2014 ~Ranked 6th in Sunbelt league in batting average ~Ranked 9th in slugging percentage and OBP in Sunbelt League ~SR year .370 average, .452 OBP, 27 HITS, 13 RBIs, 16 Runs with a .921 fielding percentage ~1st tea all-league Sunbelt conference league infield (2014) ~Sunbelt League Champions (2013-2014) ~Recruited to play at San Bernardino Valley (2015-2016) .308 AVG, .464 OBP, 10 RBIs, 16 runs, 4 SB, 6 Doubles, 2 Triples, .981 FP, 48 POs, and 18 DPs ~Playing 2nd and SS I tore my rotator cuff ending my career. I then joined the military for the next 6 years. I am now looking to give back to young athletes the knowledge I've learned from the game and being around retired pro players. ~ Infield coach with the Paloma Valley High School prior to joining the military

Senior Coach

Ben Bliss

Ben Bliss hails from Maine and began his collegiate baseball journey at the University of NF, where he walked on as a right-handed pitcher and also played third base. After concluding his playing career, Ben quickly found himself drawn back to the game, transitioning to a coaching role to continue his passion for baseball. Currently, Ben serves as the Head Baseball Coach at Arlington Middle School, where he is dedicated to rebuilding and enhancing the program with a strong emphasis on fundamental skills. In addition to his coaching role, Ben has a background in sports-specific strength and conditioning, which complements his coaching expertise. Ben's enthusiasm and positive energy are infectious, creating an environment where athletes are motivated and eager to learn. His commitment to fostering growth and development in young players makes him a valued and dynamic presence both on and off the field.
